FUTURE HOME: National U.S. Marshals Museum

The United States Marshals Museum will have three permanent gallery spaces, a temporary gallery space that will host ongoing new experiences and the Samuel M. Sicard Hall of Honor. The concepts of these galleries embrace the impressive scope and reach of the U.S. Marshals Service – Its vibrant and illustrious history, the Marshal’s presence in many definitive turning points in American history and the elements of modern service.

Frontier Marshals explores the famous stories of the U.S. Marshals Service during westward expansion in the late 19th century, but with a fresh take. While telling these stories, the gallery space will present information in a way that dissolves much of the mythology that has shrouded our understanding of these events, providing a renewed vision of what a dynamic concept “the frontier” truly was

A Changing Nation tells how the U.S. Marshals Service has played a role in some of the most pivotal moments in U.S. history. While some responsibilities have remained largely unchanged, such as the protection of basic constitutional rights through the years, others have required the devotion to duty characteristic of the Marshals, as when they were required to fulfill controversial tasks that may not have been in line with their personal beliefs or values.

Marshals Today uses up-to-date statistics and engaging graphics to showcase the sheer scale of the U.S. Marshal Service’s operations, while also explaining the responsibilities and priorities of the USMS. Visitors will be amazed by the real numbers behind the Marshals’ daily actions and will leave enlightened by their heritage, mission, duties, and goals.

The Samuel M. Sicard Hall of Honor is devoted to honoring the more than 250 U.S. Marshals and Deputy Marshals who lost their lives in the line of duty. This elegant memorial will display the name and face of every fallen Marshal and Deputy, along with badges illustrating the different time periods in which these heroic individuals lived and served. The Hall of Honor embodies the agency’s motto of Justice, Integrity, and Service, and will encourage visitors to contemplate the sacrifices made by these public servants and their families.
