2019 Art on the Border

The 6th annual Art on the Border art show and sale will be held on July 20th, 2019, inside of The Blue Lion and Riverfront Pavilion in downtown Fort Smith.

Art patrons and supporters can expect to discover the work of 60+ regional artists in a wide variety of styles and mediums, including (but not limited to):

  • oil pastels
  • traditional pastels
  • acrylic paintings
  • watercolor
  • fiber art
  • hand-blown glass
  • handmade jewelry
  • pottery and sculptures
  • authentic gourd art
  • enhanced digital photography
  • high-quality woodturning
  • handwoven baskets
  • high-quality prints and note cards.

The event kicks off with an invitation-only preview party on Friday, July 19th, from 5 PM-9 PM. This is offered to sponsors, former buyers, charity supporters, interested newcomers, art collectors, and decorators. On July 20th, the doors open to the public to enjoy and shop from 10 AM to 5 PM.

Art students from UAFS will also present their artwork and the honorary hosts will be former Mayor Sandy Sanders and Dr. Sandi Sanders, strong supporters of the arts and all good things in Fort Smith.

NEW THIS YEAR will be a Children’s Art Show on Saturday! Students attending the various summer art camps in our community will compete to win a place in the art show. Overall winners will be selected by voting at our event.

Art on the Border has grown from 14 artists in 2014 to 53 artists last year and now 60+ artists in 2019! Art on the Border supports the Donald W. Reynolds Cancer Support House, Riverview Hope Campus, Fort Smith Regional Art Museum (RAM), Center for Art and Education in Van Buren, Gregory Kistler Treatment Center, and ArTs for Bost.
