FORT SMITH CONVENTION ACTIVITY PLANNER

Here is a complete itinerary for your organization's activities for the three days your conference/convention is held at our Fort Smith Convention Center.

(Note: sample schedule is based on an 11 a.m. arrival. Earlier or later arrival times might affect part of the first day activities. Third day schedule can be expanded.)

FIRST DAY

11:00 a.m. - 5 p.m. Registration
.
Volunteers with information about sites and Fort Smith attractions.

1:00 p.m. - 5 p.m. Golf Tournament
On local courses, OR Pre-conference/convention block for business/education seminars.

2:00 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. Optional Spouse Tours Might include the following activities:

  • Tour Miss Laura's Visitor Center, the only former bordello on the National Register of Historic Places.
  • Ride a trolley bus for a tour of Fort Smith's Belle Grove Historic District.
  • Shopping in Fort Smith downtown, mall, or neighboring Van Buren's historic Main Street.
  • Train ride into scenic Boston mountains.
  • Cherokee Nation Bingo in neighboring Roland, Oklahoma.

6:00 p.m. - 9 p.m. Opening Reception. Optional sites include the Convention Center, local hotels, or outside (weather permitting.) Informal, first-night dinner consisting of fish, barbecue or chicken. Festivities might include Western hats for all visitors, a Grand Entry by wagon for VIP's, a mock gun-battle by desperados, or mock hanging for selected few and pardon by Fort Smith mayor. Plenty of music.

SECOND DAY

8:00 a.m. - 9 a.m.
Continental Breakfast

9:00 a.m. - 10:45 a.m.
Session I - Business/education seminars

10:45 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.
Break

11 a.m. - 12 Noon.
Session II - Business/education seminars

12 Noon - 1:30 p.m.
Lunch (On property or catered), Speaker

1:30 p.m. - 1:45 p.m.
Break

1:45 p.m. - 2:45 p.m.
Session III - Business/education seminars

1:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.
Optional Spouse Tours. (see Day One options)

2:45 p.m. - 3:45 p.m.
Session IV - Business/education seminars

3:45 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Break

4:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Session V - Business/education seminars

6:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.
Evening Reception near banquet area

7:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m.
Banquet, installation/awards, and program. Optional is performance featuring the Miss Laura's Players in "Medicine Show on Hangin' Day." (Performance can be included in special Dinner Theatre presentation during banquet)

9:30 p.m. - ?
Free time, hospitality suites, or visit downtown Fort Smith clubs

THIRD DAY

8:00 a.m.- 9:00 a.m.
Continental Breakfast or early Brunch

9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.
Session VI - Business/education seminars

11:00 a.m. Convention/conference close
